You Shall Surround Me with Songs of Deliverance

Image
Psalm 32:5-11   5 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord ,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah 6  For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You In a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters They shall not come near him.     7  You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah   8  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. 9  Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you. 10  Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the Lord , mercy shall surround him. 11  Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart! Father God, Than...

The Mighty One Will Rejoice Over You with Singing!

Image
Psalm 104:33-34 I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.  I could dance to this song before the Lord in His Spirit as David did if I were alone with just Jesus and me. I sing to Him even when not alone.  And why shouldn't I sing to Him?  He sings over me.  Praise His wonderful name.    Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing . (NKJV)   Abba Father, Father God,  The idea of Your rejoicing over me with singing is so awesome,  it brings me to tears. I am so grieved that I know those who do not believe Yo...

I Will Awaken the Dawn

Image
Psalms 57:7-11   My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise. Awake, my glory!   Awake, lute and harp!  I will awaken the dawn.   I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing to You among the nations. For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens, And Your truth unto the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth.     From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD'S name is to be praised.     Psalm 113:3   Thank you, Baptist Bible Hour for the picture.

Thank You Jesus

A Nervous Cricket in God's Hand

Image
Isaiah 49:16 See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands. Isaiah 49:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. I thought of being in God's hand this morning. I had a choice to stay or nervously jump out thinking about the fields around me I must explore. Like a cricket I jump, out of God's hand into a field looking for self help. "I must do this. God may not." Then I jump around in the grass with an annoying chirp, chirp, "Woe is me." In God's mercy and love, He picks me up and I am in His palm again when I chirp up at Him, "Help me, Father God. I believe Jesus died for me and You will keep me in Your hand." Lord God, Forgive me for leaving Your hand in doubt and self reliance. I acknowledge You and Your promise to direct my path. Quiet my mind and heart. Fill it with faith in You so I am not d...

Wake Up Sleeper, Rise from the Dead, and Christ Will Shine on You.

Image
Please take time to read this chapter printed below. The words of verse 14 were in my mind yesterday so I read the context.  It is a strong warning to Christians today.     Frightening? Not if we desire to walk in God's Light.     How can we?  Through the power of God's Living Word: the Resurrection and the Life, our Redeemer Jesus Christ.  Through His power in us: His Holy Spirit. Through the power of God's written Word, the Bible. Through an always attitude and readiness of prayer knowing Jesus understands our struggles and forgives our failures as quickly as we ask for His forgiveness and help. If we draw near to God, His Word says He will draw near to us. Father God, I pray we who believe will awaken to You and shine like never before in this dark and darker world. I need You more than ever in my life.  I pray my failures do not make me run and hide like Adam and Eve, or make me justify my behavior.  I pray I wil...

Waiting for the New Heaven and the New Earth

Image
Source: https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Earth (Thank you for the use of your picture.) Matthew 6:10  Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 24:35   Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.  Jesus  made both above statements.  It is God's will that all come to repentance and believe in His Son, Jesus Christ.  It is God's will that we have abundant life in Jesus who said, "In this world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." God created the perfect earth. Man and Woman rebelled against God by disobeying Him. (Read the book of Genesis.) The earth then changed and man had to work it by the sweat of his brow. Man and Woman (Adam and Eve) gave Satan dominion over the earth. God sent us a Savior, Jesus Christ His Son, to redeem us from sin. Jesus gained back dominion over the earth when Jesus rose from the dead with victory over death, sin, ...

How to Apply Our Hearts Unto Wisdom

Scripture : Psalm 90:12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Observation : I think this verse is saying that we need to be aware of how short our lives are. We need to ask God to show us how to make the most of every day.  We read His Word to gain His wisdom on how to live. We ask His Holy Spirit to show us how to apply His truths in our lives. As we are faithful each day to read His Word and pray, we are able to apply our hearts unto His Holy wisdom, and thus live our lives  without wasting time.   In reading His word and praying, we become more ready each day for eternity with Jesus as we move closer and closer to eternity. In so doing we are applying our hearts unto wisdom . Application : So, how do we apply this verse to our lives?  First of all, we do what Jesus said many times in the book of John, "Believe." And as Paul and Silas said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." (Acts 16:31) We si...

I Am the Bread of Life

Image
John Chapter 6 35  Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36  But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37  All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38  For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39  And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40  For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. ”   Father God, We  are so careful to eat each day to nourish our physical bodies. We do not understand how we must feed our spirits. Our bodies will die. Our spirits will live forever either in heaven or  hell.  We must come to Jesus. ...

Death Could Not Keep Him

But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.  People of Israel, listen! God publicly endorsed Jesus the Nazarene by doing powerful miracles, wonders, and signs through him, as you well know.  But God knew what would happen, and his prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed.  With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him to a cross and killed him.   But God released him from the horrors of death and raised him back to life, for death could not keep him in its grip. ‭‭ Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭2:21-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

How Can I Be Somber

I cannot participate in Lent and be somber for 46 days from Ash Wednesday until Easter Sunday when I know my Lord Jesus is sitting in heavenly places.  He conquered death, sin, and the grave over 2000 years ago. Jesus has given me joy unspeakable and it overflows more often sometimes than others. I cannot bury my "Hallelujahs" and dig them up at sunrise on Easter.  It is the praise given to me by God's Holy Spirit that keeps me from daily "somber" living.   I do agree that believers should daily ask forgiveness for our sins as we desire to live a life full of praise and obedience each day to our Lord Jesus.  Fasting is taught by Jesus so that we can become stronger in His Holy Spirit 365 days a year. I have great need to practice this fully. I am aware of limiting my enjoyment of this world to focus on eternal things. How can I be somber?  I am anticipating my Lord Jesus' return any day now.  I endeavor to perpetually live in a "JOYOUS season"!

Jesus' Wounds, Bruises, Chastisement, and Stripes Are Hard to Comprehend

Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquitie s; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.   Father God, This verse  in Isaiah foretold Jesus ' death for us. It is so very hard to imagine how Your Son suffered to redeem us from our sins, give us peace, and heal us.   Forgive us for not taking time to come before You with repentant and thankful hearts. The price You paid sending Jesus is beyond our comprehension. Jesus, we cannot imagine how You suffered physically, and what the pain of separation from Father God was like.  I am almost embarrassed to talk about this because of failure as a human in understanding it.  I focus on the end result of it all.  I don't like to look at what happened before Jesus said, "It is finished."  Make me aware of the sacrifice Father and Son paid. I am so thankful I am on this side of the cross. I truly owe a debt I cannot pay....

7 Last Sayings of Jesus on the Cross

Image
7 Last Sayings of Jesus on the Cross 7 Last Sayings of Jesus on the Cross Throughout this Lenten season, Christians around the world are focusing on the gift of Salvation. Remembering the agony experienced by Jesus in His death on the Cross, crucified by Roman soldiers is so profound, isn’t it? In the final hours of His earthly time, as Jesus hung on the Cross, He made seven statements – each teaching us more about Jesus and His character. These are from four Gospel accounts, and are known as Jesus’ “seven last sayings.” Jesus’ 7 Last Sayings in Scripture “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” — Luke 23:34 “Today shalt thou be with Me in paradise.” — Luke 23:43 “Woman, behold thy Son.” — John 19:26 “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” — Mark 15:34 “I thirst.” — John 19:28 “It is finished.” — John 19:30 “Father, into Thy hands I commend My spirit.” — Luke ...

What Makes Christianity Different?

Image
Prayer for the day  The account of Your resurrection never ceases to bring me joy , Lord Jesus. (a prayer I took from the following website which is also my heart's thanksgiving prayer to Jesus) What Makes Christianity Different? By Billy Graham He is not here, but is risen. —Luke 24:6 Something distinguishes Christianity from all the religions of the world. Not only does it carry the truth of the redemption, by the death of our Savior for our sins on the cross, but it carries the fact that Christ rose again. Only the Christian faith claims that its Leader died and rose again and is alive at this moment. Many gravestones carry the inscription, “Here lies . . . ,” but on Christ’s tomb are emblazoned the words, “He is not here.” Christianity has no shrines to visit, no dusty remains to venerate, no tombs...

Friday or Wednesday?

The Sabbaths by Chuck Missler Nowhere in the Gospels does it assert that Christ was crucified on a Friday. In Mark 15:42, it refers to ".. .the day before the sabbath ." This may be the root of the misunderstanding. The Jews had other sabbaths in addition to the weekly Shabbat (Saturday). There were seven "high sabbaths" each year; the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the 15th of Nisan, being one of them. 3 Further, Matthew 28:1 should read, "At the end of the sabbaths," 4 implying a plurality of sabbaths that week. If Passover, the 14th of Nisan, fell earlier in the week, the 15th could have been any day prior to Saturday, the weekly sabbath. " When the sabbaths were past " would, of course, be Sunday (actually, Saturday after sundown). The Je...

The Plot to Kill Jesus

The Plot to Kill Jesus  (John 11:45-55) 45  Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him. 46  But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did. 47  Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, “What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. 48  If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.” 49  And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, 50  nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.” 51  Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, 52  and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of G...

Our Daily Bread Article: The Miracle of the Opened Graves

Image
The Miracle of the Opened Graves The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open.—Matthew 27:51–52 The midday darkness is the first of the six miracles that happened during Jesus’s crucifixion (Matthew 27:45). It is the beginning of the divine procession of signs that heralded the death of Jesus Christ. Second came the supernatural tearing from top to bottom of the curtain of the temple. The third miracle was the earthquake and the splitting of the rocks (v. 51), while the fourth was the opening of the graves in the vicinity (v. 52). The fifth miraculous sign was the condition of the empty tomb, and the last miracle was the resurrection of many saints who had died (v. 53). These were the six miracles of Calvary, all of them linked directly to the death of Jesus Christ. Some of these miracles occurred in the heavens, others under the earth, yet they all established a unique class of miracles—each of these signs played a part in the miracle of Christ’s etern...

Victory Over Death, Sin, and the Grave (Updated so Read Again!)

Scripture : John 11:1-5,45  Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. 2  It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. 3  Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” 4  When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” 5  Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6  So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was. 7  Then after this He said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.” 45  Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him.  Matthew 27:52-53  The tombs were also opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised. And they came out of the tombs after ...

If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light ...

Lazarus Come Forth-The Bishops

Image
Lazarus Come Forth Heartbroken, tears falling Martha found Jesus She questioned why Lazarus had died. When she had thus spoken, her doubts were then silenced. He walked toward the body and cried. Lazarus, come forth. Awake like the morning. Arise with new hope, a new life is born. Lazarus, come forth. From death now awaken. For Jesus has spoken. Death's chains have been broken. Lazarus, come forth. The tomb now was empty. Martha stopped crying. Her brother now stood by her side. The Pharisee's wondered about what had happened. How could one now live who had died? The reason this story gives hope to so many Is although we know we must die. Our bodies won't stay there In cold and dark silence. We'll hear Jesus cry from on high. Children come forth Awake like the morning. Arise with new hope, a new life is born. Children come forth. From death now awaken. For Jesus has spoken. Death's chains have been broken. Children come forth. F...

Jesus Conquered Death and Is Alive Forevermore!

Image
(Above verse and image is from Faithlife website.  Thank you!)  "Christ conquered death because He was sinless. The curse upon mankind in the Garden of Eden, brought about by their sin, was plainly stated: 'You will certainly die' ( Genesis 2:17 ). Ever since, we have seen the truth of Romans 6:23 , 'The wages of sin is death.'  But Jesus Christ had no sin ( 1 Peter 2:22 ); therefore, death had no power over Him. Jesus’ death was a voluntary sacrifice for our sin, and, given His sinless perfection, His resurrection logically followed. 'I lay down my life,' Jesus said, 'only to take it up again'( John 10:17 )." (Got Questions website. Thank you!)

All Who Would Receive Jesus in This Life May Enter the New Jerusalem - Others Will Be Denied Access

Image
The last verse in the "Holy City" is not in line with God's Word. "And all who would might enter in, and no one was denied."  Revelation Chapter 21 describes the New Jerusalem. Verses  26-27 state who may enter it.    26 They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. 27  But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.   It is true we might enter if we would receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior in this life.  Only then will God record our names in the Lamb's Book of Life.  When the New Jerusalem comes down, it will be too late  after we die to acknowledge Jesus as the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world.  John 1:12-13  12  But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13  who were born, not of blood, nor of the wi...

Palm Sunday

Matthew 21:1-11 NIV   As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2  saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3  If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.” 4  This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5  “Say to Daughter Zion,      ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey,      and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’” 6  The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7  They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8  A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9  The crowds that went ahead of him and those t...

Open Fists Become Raised Hands

S: 1 Peter 3:9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. O: Peter says we are to do the opposite of what comes natural because we are called so that we may inherit a blessing. P: Father God,  we are Your children through Jesus Christ, Your Son. We have Your Holy Spirit in us.  However, we also still have the old nature with which we were born.  It is so easy to just blurt out comments naturally.   Help us to be aware of Your Holy Spirit within us who believe. Help us get Your Word in our hearts each day and be surrendered to You so that the meditations of our hearts cause our words to be acceptable in Your sight, O God my Lord and my Redeemer.   Forgive me for trying to vindicate evil by being evil myself in the words I send out. Turn our hurt feelings, judgmental attitudes, anger at being attacked, and attempt to defend our integrity int...
