A Cardboard Jesus (commentary on memes)

Image
For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.  Isaiah 57:15 I just unintentionally saw the first meme of Jesus that I have ever seen and hope never to see one again. I was so sad, but I refrained from leaving a comment on my  Bible study app.  In looking for some information on this particular meme, I discovered that a non-Christian finds these memes disrespectful to Jesus.  This particular meme was on Pinterest. I guess this guy on my Bible app got it there. At least he did not create it himself. However, he did use it. I wanted to  correct the one who posted this disrespectful meme but I was advised by a knowing person to let it go.  She said you won't make any difference, and it is not your responsibility. So why do I feel I must speak out against disrespectful memes of Jesus?

My Spirit Rejoices

Image
Luke 1:46-55CSB   And Mary said: My soul magnifies the Lord,   and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,   because he has looked with favor on the humble condition of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed,   because the Mighty One has done great things for me, and his name is holy.   His mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear him.   He has done a mighty deed with his arm; he has scattered the proud because of the thoughts of their hearts;   he has toppled the mighty from their thrones and exalted the lowly.   He has satisfied the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty.

Only God's Holy Spirit Can Describe Who Jesus Is

Image
"The Greek word for 'indescribable' is used nowhere else in the New Testament and is translated as meaning 'unutterable.'  It means that words cannot describe and no human can fully appreciate the magnitude of the gift."  "Not capable of being altered or changed" is how Merriam Webster defines unutterable. God's gift, Jesus, will never change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever!  Man's imaginative portrayal of Jesus in "The Chosen" will never make Jesus anything or anyone who is different from the Jesus we know from the Holy Bible. Oh, that all would understand!  Only God's Holy Spirit can reveal who Jesus is to us, and we cannot express this revelation in any human language.   "Not able to be expressed in words" is how  Oxford Languages Dictionary defines unspeakable. As Peter tells us, we rejoice in Jesus with inexpressible and glorious joy!   I Peter 1:8 CSB Though you have not seen him, you love him;

Next Time Jesus Will Come as King of kings and Lord of lords.

Zechariah 9:9  Rejoice greatly oh daughter of Zion. Shout oh daughter of Jerusalem. Behold your King He comes.  Revelation19:11-16  11  Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12  His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13  He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14  And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15  Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the wine press of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16  And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.   The first time Jesus came to Jerusalem riding on a donkey, as recorded i

Jesus Will Reign as King of kings Over All the Earth

Zechariah 9:10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim And the horse from Jerusalem; The battle bow shall be cut off. He shall speak peace to the nations; His dominion shall be ‘from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.’

Immanuel, God with Us

Image
Exodus 6:3 (NLT) I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty’ —but I did not reveal my name, Yahweh (Adonai) to them. Adonai means that God is Lord of lords, Master of masters, King of kings. Revelation 19:16 On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords. Praying as I worked in the kitchen this morning, Adonai was on my lips. Also Abba Father. I felt so close to God as I said His names. I then thought of how these names connect with our season of celebrating His coming to earth to live among men. Matthew 1:23 The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means God with us). Jesus was born to die that we might live and have the gift of His Holy Spirit living in us if we confess our sins and invite Him into our hearts. He is indeed with us, abiding in us as we allow. So marvelous! Therefore, we are restored to our Heavenly Father so that we might call ou

The Light of the World is Jesus!    MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! MY PRAYER December 2021 Father God, Here is my prayer for my family and friends. I ask it in Jesus’ name. May all our lamps be clean and burning bright for Jesus! May we have a song in our hearts and a word from the Lord for the Lost and Downtrodden. May we trim the wick of this world’s residue each day. May we all be filled with Your Holy Spirit daily. May we always have a full supply of Your Holy Word in our hearts. May we all rejoice when the bridegroom cometh! AND FINALLY! May we all hear Jesus say,”Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of Your Lord.” In Jesus' name. AMEN. Matthew 25:7-10, 21 Posted on DBS BAND December 2021

The Fruit of the Vine and the Trumpet

Image
The Fruit of the Vine The Trumpet Matthew 26:29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.” 1 Corinthians 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

In the Fullness of Time is How God Works in the Human Race

Image
But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, Galatians 4:4 To be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.   Ephesians 1:10 (Jesus' Second Coming to rule and reign) God is the God of all time.  He is time.  No beginning. No ending.  Man is linear. God is circular. The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: “I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts. Isaiah 57:15 Various scholars of the Bible disagree on when Jesus was born.  Some say September, recently April, both saying not December 25.  The year  was not l BC.  Most agree on 4-6 BC.  Conclusions are based on Jewish laws and historical events.  There is no unity among believers on the date when Jesus was born.  Jewish cust

The Eternal Gift of God

Image
The Red Cord of Redemption becomes the Gift of God!   Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Jesus gave His life so that we might receive a way back to Father God.  We must untie the bow and apply the blood of Jesus costly redemption to our sinful hearts, even to our hurting bodies and minds.  We must receive Jesus, God's Gift, into our hearts, ask His forgiveness, ask for His Holy Spirit, and follow His leading each and every day (Read His Word, pray.) Imagine, you do not open any of your gifts under the tree.  Then realize that it is up to you to make use of the gifts loved ones have bought for  you.  Untie the bow of God's gift by asking Jesus into your heart and life.  Do it now! Isaiah 53:5  But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Memories of Jane and Me Singing "He's My Savior" and "Mary, Did You Know"

Image
This is the time of year for past memories.  I have some good memories of singing with Jane, a good friend I have not seen for over 10 years.   I hope to sing "He's My Savior" in heaven with you, Jane, as we praise our glorious Jesus who will always be our Savior! Another song Jane and I sang one Christmas was "Mary, Did You Know".

The Red Cord, A Symbol of Redemption

Image
The Red Cord, a Symbol of Redemption   Rahab, a prostitute, was one of the ancestors of Jesus mentioned in Matthew 1:5. She was the great-grandmother of King David. She hung a red cord from the window where she helped the spies of Israel escape and was spared with her family when Israel attacked Jericho (Joshua 2:18 and 6:25). Every Christmas I put out my red cord to remind me that there is no sin Jesus did not redeem. When I think I have sinned too much to be used by God, I remember Rahab, a redeemed prostitute in the ancestry of Jesus. I think, “Jesus’ blood was represented by that red cord. His blood cleanses us from all our sins so that we can do marvelous things in His name.”

God Our Provider

Image
This is the first of five episodes with my Christmas Swan. For five consecutive days, I will prepare the swan for Christmas Day. DAY 1 Jehovah Jireh, God Our Provider Genesis 22:8 KJV And Abraham said, My son, God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering: Genesis 22:14 So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.” John 1:29 NKJV The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” I Peter 1:18-21 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.  He indeed was foreordained before the foundatio
