God Our Provider

This is the first of five episodes with my Christmas Swan. For five consecutive days, I will prepare the swan for Christmas Day.

DAY 1

Jehovah Jireh, God Our Provider

Genesis 22:8 KJV And Abraham said, My son, God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering:
Genesis 22:14 So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”

John 1:29 NKJV The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”

I Peter 1:18-21 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.  He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

It is a marvelous thought to think of God as our provider, Jehovah Jireh. The 5 part series of my Christmas marvelous thoughts begins with this picture of my Christmas swan.

In Matthew Jesus talks about God providing for the birds, and the sparrow, smallest of birds, God cares for. How much more Jesus says will He provide for us.

And indeed, He did provide from the foundation of the world as Peter tells us in the scripture above.

Scholars believe that Mt. Moriah where Isaac was taken to be sacrificed was the same place as Golgotha where Jesus was crucified, where God provided Himself to be the sacrifice for the world.

 k
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Father God, I  pray that many will receive Jesus, Your provision, Your way back for mankind to fellowship with You.  As it was prophesied in Genesis 22:14, "on the Lord’s mountain," You provided thousands of years later. Praises to You, Jehovah Jireh! Thank You, Jesus, for bearing the sins of the world!  Praise You, oh LAMB of GOD slain from from the foundation of the world. In Your matchless name, Jesus, I pray.  Amen.
