How to Abound in Hope through Joy and Peace
Romans 15:13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord God, I pray that this verse will encourage us all today. I pray that we all seek You today with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. I pray we all know who You are in our lives today as You fill us with joy and peace as we believe so that we abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit . Help us be attentive to Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name. Amen Mark 12:30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. God of hope, Let these verses be in our hearts to meditate upon today and throughout the night. As David said in the Psalms, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, Oh Lord, my strength, and my redeemer." (Psalm 19:14) Help us ...
I'm sorry, but I cannot even listen to 10 minutes of this. I usually agree with MacArthur but not about this. Morals are certainly important for the leader of a country. And not voting pro abortion is a given - but what happens when the other choice is pro sexual abuse of women? Is that a lesser sin? And what if that candidate has actually sexually abused women himself? Then MacArthur says to make a determination of "Who is closest to a biblical moral standard." That's impossible to say when you are dealing with two unbelievers. You either believe in - not just God - but Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior or you don't. If you don't, you really can't be trusted to have any moral standards such as being honest, just, having integrity or compassion. Pick the best leader? God leads, not man. I say the reason we are now in a predicament of picking between two morally bankrupt men for president is because we started down this slippery slope many years ago. When we started lessening the moral constraints of our leaders in order to get what we want, God started His plan for discipline. Quote from John Calvin: "When God wants to judge a nation, He gives them wicked rulers." When I arrive before the Lord one day, I want to hear "well done, good and faithful servant." I don't believe we are good and faithful servants when we put into power ungodly men.

DeleteI thought what he was saying is that our anti-Christian culture doesn't give us much choice for a leader and we have to choose the one closest to what we believe. I liked what he said about God leads a nation by their conscience, their family values, and lastly the government. If the first two have eroded, there doesn't leave much to choose from for the government.
I agree we started down this slippery slope years ago and it started very subtly. I believe entertainment was the door and parents did not know how to be parents. Churches did not teach Christians how to love God with all their heart, and love their neighbors as themselves.
The people who run for office now are just a reflection of this. However, Benjamin Franklin, a founding father, was not a moral man, and many of the founding fathers were deist, and I think all owned slaves. Somehow God got this country started and blessed us because we were helping accomplish His purpose for Israel. My main criteria for a president is how they feel about Israel and abortion.
Just like I won't vote for someone who supports abortion, I also won't vote for someone who has sexually abused women. Franklin may have been a Deist, but he wasn't a convicted sexual abuser nor a convicted embezzler. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one! Oh, one last comment - your criteria may be how someone feels about Israel and abortion, but when they are evil, you can't trust them. Trump changed his mind once about abortion - he could do it again. His "feelings" are purely polititcal, nothing to do with God's will or morality. He is an immoral man.
DeleteDon't worry Trump most likely will not be elected. The WEF won't allow it. Soon the Anti-Christ will take control. We believers will be in heaven with King Jesus!
