The Mind of Christ
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned....
But we have the mind of Christ. I Corinthians 2:16
But we have the mind of Christ. I Corinthians 2:16
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5
A week or so ago, the words, "You have the mind of Christ" came to my thoughts. It was taken from a verse contrasting spiritual discernment with the natural man. Because we have asked Jesus to forgive our sins and invited His Holy Spirit into our hearts, we have the mind of Christ.
However, the verse I have thought of lately in Philippians advises us to "Let the mind of Christ be in us."
The word let is defined as meaning "not prevent or forbid; allow." We have to make a conscious effort to allow the mind of Christ to be in us.
As believers who have God's Holy Spirit we have to submit our natural desires, our human knowledge, and our emotions to God so that we do not prevent the power of His Holy Spirit from speaking to us. His voice is much more quiet than what the world, the flesh, and the devil shouts at us.
Lord God, I pray that I will allow Your mind to be in me and not prevent Your quiet voice from being heard in my mind. Thank You that I have Your mind through Your Holy Spirit who brings Your Word I have stored in my heart to quiet my natural mind so that I have the mind of Christ.
Help me to forbid the thoughts of the enemy by filling my mind with what You have put in Your Word, and closing out anything that is contradicting who You really are.
For example, when fear enters my mind, let me hear You say, "Do not fear. I am Your Peace." In order to hear You, help me focus on peace as I guard what I watch and read, and even respond to with those around me.
Remind me that anything contrary to You that enters my mind does not allow Your mind to be in me. When fear comes I pray that I have Your mind, that I know the voice and emotion of fear is not from You. Empty it from my mind so that I can have Your mind in all situations, and thereby Your Holy wisdom. In Jesus' name. Amen.
