"The Chosen" Fiction vs. the Jesus Film

Jesus (also known as The Jesus Film) is a 1979 American Biblical drama film directed by Peter Sykes and John Krish, and produced by John Heyman. In Jesus, the life of Jesus Christ is depicted, primarily using the Gospel of Luke as the main basis for the story. A voice-over narration is featured sporadically throughout the film, providing background information on characters and events.[3]

Shot on location in Israel, the film was financed primarily by Campus Crusade for Christ with a budget of $6 million, and was released without production or cast credits, as producer John Heyman declared that the creators of this picture were “simply being translators” of the New Testament's Gospel of Luke, “so nobody will know who produced or directed the film.”[3] The end of the film states that the Good News Bible (Today's English Version) was used during filming, and instead of telling a parallel story or embellishing the Biblical account like other Biblical films, the filmmakers chose to adhere to the Gospel of Luke as closely as possible.[4]

Jesus is sometimes described as the most-watched motion picture of all time,[5][6] in addition to being the most translated film of all time.[7][8 Wikipedia

At the end of each JESUS film showing, team workers and local pastors gather new believers to pray and instruct them in their new faith. The gospel is clarified and viewers are given the opportunity to indicate their decisions to follow Christ. The teams document the names and addresses of those who choose Jesus.

These new brothers and sisters in Christ are then invited to visit local churches and attend Bible studies with people in their communities.

If there is no local church to welcome them in, one is often formed.

 My Thoughts:

Unlike "The Chosen" the Jesus Film uses no fictional characters or dialogues. The purpose of the Jesus Film is to evangelize not entertain.

How can someone come to the real Jesus through a movie that is 95% fiction? Jesus is the Way, the TRUTH, the Life. No one can come to Jesus except the Father draws him. John 6:44, "For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up."

How can Father God use "The Chosen" to draw people to Jesus when God clearly said to cast down imaginations that exalt themselves above Jesus? Man's imagination is primarily the content of "The Chosen." This movie is clearly to entertain the flesh, and in my opinion, will not be used by God to draw people to Jesus.

Please do not get on board with this Bibical fiction.  Do not continue to believe that anyone can learn the truth about Jesus by watching "The Chosen."  God help us to have decerning minds in these last days of deception.
