Feelings vs. God's Truth
Romans 12:10 (The entire chapter is so good!)
Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;
I thought of this verse after listening to this podcast. It
is so dangerous to base our relationship with God and others on our
feelings. Yeah, sure these feelings vindicate our behavior and what we
say, we FEEL. But what does God say in His word how we are to treat one
another? Even in private relationships! When you think no one sees, God
sees! We harm ourselves, as well as those we SAY we love.
Father
God, help us to think about what we say before we speak. You say our
words can hurt others. You say much in Your Holy Word about how to treat
others, even our enemies, and certainly our loved ones.
Show us
our hearts and the truth of why we are saying what we say that may be
hurting others. Guard our minds and our mouths. Let the meditation of
our hearts and the words of our mouths be acceptable in Your sight, O
Lord my God, and my Redeemer. Awaken us to Your truth before it is too
late and we have hurt someone again, and before our mouths are closed in
this world forever. In Jesus' name. Amen.
