Steve's SOAP: Joy of God's Presence-Eternal Life

My SOAPS for today: 3/15/2022

(This was written by Steve from my DBS  (Discovery Bible Study).  Thanks, Steve!  Your post expresses the idea of my blog so well.

S - “You will show me the way of life. Granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.” Psalm 16:11 NLT

O - God will show us the way of life. When we are in his presence, we can’t help but be joyful and hopeful of the pleasures of eternal life with him.

A - God’s way is the only way to a life of joy and eternal life. When we practice being in the presence of God, the Holy Spirit leaps for joy inside us. We can’t help but sing his praise and to be reminded that we will live with God forever. It will be paradise and the joy of being in his presence will last for eternity.

P - Thank you, glorious Lord , for the joy that you bring us when we are in your presence. It’s so easy to be brought out of your presence by everything that is going on in the world. But greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world. Lord, your joy is nothing like any joy we may experience through the material things of this world. Your joy is eternal. Thank you for providing a way for us to live in that eternal joy through your son Jesus. Lord, I pray that in the midst of the chaos, loneliness, pain, and everything else that the spirit of this world tries to throw at us, that we can find some time to be in your presence today. We NEED more joy in this world.

Notice that Steve uses the acronym SOAP. S is for scripture;

O is for observation; A is for application; P is for prayer.

 My blogs will use the acronym SOP.  A meaning of "SOP"  according to google:

Noun: a piece of bread dipped in gravy, soup, or sauce.  Verb:1.to soak up liquid using an absorbent substance. 2. wet thoroughly: soak.

S: scripture
O:observation
P:prayer (includes the application directed to God as a request for His help to apply His Word)

 It is interesting that Jesus said the one to whom he gave the sop would betray Him. Then Judas went out to betray Jesus. John 13:26 KJV
     Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

Father God, I pray that all who You bring to this blog, as well as myself, will sop up Your Holy Word like a dry sponge and come to the garden with You each day. In Jesus' name. Amen.
