Today is the Day!

Scriptures:   

 2 Corinthians 6:2  For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.

Acts 24:25  As he reasoned with them about righteousness and self-control and the coming day of judgment, Felix became frightened. “Go away for now,” he replied. “When it is more convenient, I’ll call for you again.”

  Isaiah 55:6  Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.

 

Genesis 7:16  A male and female of each kind entered, just as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD closed the door behind them.

Observations:

  God says He is waiting for you to come. However, He eventually will say, "This is your last chance to come to me."  Since we do not know when that last chance will be, God advises us that today is the day of salvation. "Do not harden your hearts."

 

The apostle Paul preached to Felix, the governor of Judea, when he was called before him to defend himself.  Felix had conviction but would not yield his life to Jesus. Felix, according to the above translation of scripture, became frightened. He did not want to think about his relationship with God. He put it on the shelf for later, a more convenient time.

 

Isaiah warns the children  of Israel to come to God and ask forgiveness for their sins, and live for Him. He warns to come now to God before it is too late.

 

Noah pleaded with people to come to God, but their opportunity was forever lost when Noah and his family entered the ark of safety, and God shut the door.  The people perished because they were outside the place of safety.  

 

Jesus is our Ark of Salvation. Come to Him before it is too late. 

 

In the book of John, Jesus says numerous times that our  work is "to believe".  Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

 

A convenient time free from work and play and other distractions will never come. Don't wait for it as Felix did. Don't be afraid of surrendering to God. Don't hide in the multitude of pleases this world offers.

 

 God is waiting for you now, this minute, today. It may be the door is closed tomorrow. Today is the day of salvation!

 

Prayer:

Father God, You are not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

 

 I pray for all those who have had Your Word stolen from their hearts by the enemy of their souls to come back to You now.  

 

I pray for those who have never come to You to bow their hearts before You, and ask Jesus to forgive their sins, and come live in them.

 Fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Let Your written Word become alive as we read the Bible, and let us surrender to Your Holy Spirit each day as we come to You. 

 

Jesus, You are the one we all need. You are our Ark, our Safety, our Savior, our Redeemer, our Healer, our Righteousness, all we need.

 

 I pray we will see that we need to be in You and You in us as the coming storm approaches closer and closer.  Jesus said, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." (John 15:7)
 

I ask these things, Father God, in the name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen. 

 

Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
