Old Testament and New Testament Tell of Jesus, the Messiah

Image
Amir Tsarfati If you don’t believe that the Messiah: ·      Was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14) ·      Lived a sinless life (Isaiah 53:9) ·      Sacrificed His life for others (Daniel 9:26) ·      Resurrected on the third day (Psalm 16:10, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4) ·      Is now interceding for us before the Father (Psalm 110:1, Hebrews 7:25) ·      Will come in the clouds to take us to be with Him (Daniel 7:13, 1 Thessalonians 4:17) ·      Will return to the earth to reign with us (Zechariah 14:3-4) Then you don’t know Him; You only know of Him.

Maundy Thursday; Tenebrae

Image
Maundy Thursday, also known as “Holy Thursday,” is the Thursday of Passion Week , one day before Good Friday (the Friday before Easter). Maundy Thursday is the name given to the day on which Jesus celebrated the Passover with His disciples, known as the Last Supper. Two important events are the focus of Maundy Thursday. First, Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with His disciples and thereby instituted the Lord’s Supper, also called Communion ( Luke 22:19-20 ). Some Christian churches observe a special Communion service on Maundy Thursday in memory of Jesus’ Last Supper with His disciples. Second, Jesus washed the disciples’ feet as an act of humility and service, thereby setting an example that we should love and serve one another in humility ( John 13:3-17 ). Some Christian churches observe a foot-washing ceremony on Maundy Thursday to commemorate Jesus’ washing the feet of the disciples. The word Maundy is derived from the Latin word for “command.” The “Maundy” in “Maun

Purim celebrates God's Protection of the Jews some where between 486 and 465 BC at the time of the Persian King, Ahasuerus.

For Such a Time As This: Commemorating the Story of Esther Through the Observance of Purim Saturday evening will mark the beginning of the observance of Purim for Jews around the world. Follow Amir’s commentary below on the life of Esther for insight into the background and biblical story behind this annual celebration     Purim = פורים; meaning “lots” From Saturday evening until sundown on Sunday, Jews throughout the world will celebrate Purim, a holiday commemorating the Jewish people’s survival in the ancient Persian Empire. Purim is celebrated on the 14th day of Adar by Jewish communities. It includes festivities, parties, costumes, and the reading of the Book of Esther. The story of Purim is found in the Book of Esther, where a plot by Haman, the royal advisor to King Ahasuerus, was conceived to kill the Jews in the Persian Empire. Three years into King Ahasuerus’ reign, he made a feast for officials, servants, nobles, and princes lasting 180 days. When that feast

Accurate News on Israel and Hamas

Image
Hamas Once the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had cleared Gaza City of Hamas, they directed their efforts south. As the battle raged in Khan Yunis, the terrorists sensed an opportunity. Quietly, they began sneaking back into Gaza City, reestablishing a secret base at Shifa Hospital. What they didn’t realize was that they were being watched. Once Hamas was settled in, the IDF sprung their trap. Military and Shin Bet forces surrounded the hospital and moved in. What they found inside was a lot of terrorists and a massive amount of weapons and armaments. Thus far, at least 90 Hamas members have been killed and 350 suspects have been arrested. Fa’ak Mabhouh, the head of the internal security operations department for the terrorist organization, was among the dead. This surprise attack was a major disappointment for Hamas. In the West Bank, the battle continues to rage against Hamas. Yesterday, in Jenin, a car carrying three terrorists was destroyed in a surgical airstrike.

"Israel Implemented More Measures to Prevent Civilian Casualties.... " (John Spencer, West Point Warfare Studies)

Image
Published Jan 31, 2024 at 8:38 AM EST   By John Spencer chair of urban warfare studies at the Modern War Institute (MWI) at West Point; served for 25 years as an infantry soldier and two tours in Iraq   No military fighting an entrenched enemy in dense urban terrain in an area barely twice the size of Washington D.C. can avoid all civilian casualties. Reports of over 25,000 Palestinians killed, be they civilians or Hamas , have made headlines. But Israel has taken more measures to avoid needless civilian harm than virtually any other nation that's fought an urban war. In fact, as someone who has served two tours in Iraq and studied urban warfare for over a decade, Israel has taken precautionary measures even the United States did not do during its recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I say this not to put Israel on a pedestal or to diminish the human suffering of Gazans but rather to correct a number of misperceptions when it comes to urban warfare. F

Only Those Whose Have Accepted Jesus as Their Savior Will Enter the New Jerusalem (First blogged on April 2, 2023)

Image
"The Holy City" lyrics at the end say "All who will may enter in. It was the New Jerusalem."   God's Word says: "The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life." Revelation 21:26 All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  We must ask forgiveness and accept Jesus' atoning death on the cross, as well as His resurrection, and believe He is at the Father's right hand interceding for those who have made Him their Savior. We therefore are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Those who have the Holy Spirit given by the Father are the only ones who can enter the Holy City of the New Jerusalem.  We must choose Jesus. We cannot just decide to enter the New Jerusalem without Him. Father God, draw us to Jesus so that we know Him today, so that we can

Conclusions from "The Status of Judea and Samaria . . . in International Law"

Image
 9. Conclusions from:  "The Status of Judea & Samaria (The West Bank) and Gaza and the Settlements in International Law"  (https://jcpa.org) Israel’s position that Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) are not “occupied territories” under international law, since they were not taken from any foreign sovereign power, is well-founded. Even though Israel has not actually annexed those territories and has not applied its sovereignty to them, it has a priority claim of right to sovereignty over them, which prevails over any Palestinian or Arab adverse claim. According to a French proverb, Adieu le passé, c’est aussi adieu la posterité [to bid farewell to the past is also to bid farewell to posterity]. The Jewish people have not forgotten their past. The claim that the Palestinians have a right to an independent state in all areas of Judea, Samaria and Gaza (Yesha), while Jewish settlement in Yesha is prohibited, has no basis in international law. According to internatio

"Misperceptions and Misrepresentations Undermine the Pursuit of Peace"

Amir Tsarfati    (IV) The October 24, 1945 Article 80 of the UN Charter incorporated the Mandate for Palestine into the UN Charter.  Accordingly, the UN or any other entity cannot transfer Jewish rights in Palestine – including immigration and settlement – to any other party. According to Article 80 of the UN Charter and the Mandate for Palestine, the 1967 war of self-defense returned Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria to its legal owner, the Jewish state.  Legally and geo-strategically the rules of “belligerent occupation” do not apply Israel’s presence in Judea and Samaria, since they are not “foreign territory,” and Jordan did not have a legitimate title over the West Bank.  Moreover, the rules of “belligerent occupation” do not apply in view of the 1994 Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty. The 1950-67 Jordanian occupation of Judea and Samaria violated international law and was recognized only by Britain and Pakistan. *The 1949 4th Geneva Convention prohibits the forced tr

Our Great Shepherd

Image
Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,  make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21  This verse was printed on the announcements of my children's high school graduations.  Father God, Make them complete in every good work to do Your will.  May they trust in the blood of Jesus to be complete in Him, and be pleasing to You through Jesus Christ.  Thine is the glory, risen, conquering King. May we all glorify You forever and ever.  In Jesus' name. Amen.🙏

"Confident Steps Forward in The Darkness"

Image
From Dr. David Jeremiah's sermon and devotional    The picture above was in Dr. Jeremiah's on line sermon, "I AM The Good Shepherd."  Be sure to listen to it on my previous post!  In his devotional book, Walking With Jesus , on March 10, 2024 entry he quoted Elizabeth Elliott's poem from her book, Keep a Quiet Heart.   Lord, give to me a quiet heart That does not ask to understand, But confident steps forward in The darkness guided  by Thy hand. In his sermon Jeremiah showed the above picture of a herd of deer in Texas whose picture was taken around a campfire built to keep the howling wolves away.  All the sheep are looking  to their shepherd away from the dangers of the dark night as revealed by their focused eyes toward where he was standing.   And so it should be with us who have asked Jesus to be our Savior.  Jeremiah went on to say.  Look to our Shepherd Jesus for protection not toward the darkness of our hour. Father God, may our eyes be focused on Jesus

Be sure to listen to the testimony and singing of this song on the Jason Crabb video posted on my blog today before this post.  You will be blessed!   Jesus, Jesus, Jesus; there's just something about that name.   Master, Savior, Jesus, like the fragrance after the rain;   Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, let all Heaven and earth proclaim.   Kings and kingdoms will all pass away, But there's something about that name.   Kings and kingdoms will all pass away, But there's something about that name.
